Short blurb today. My car is very sick and is taking a lot of time and energy. Think happy thoughts!
Mahi-Mahi (Coryphaena hippurus)
Also known as the dolphin fish, mahi-mahi are ray-finned fish with a rounded head found just off-shore in many areas world wide. They have a long dorsal fin and are brightly colored, mainly golden with blue and green around their fins. You have probably seen them on the local seafood establishment’s menu and advertised as a prize for sport fishermen.
Mahi like swimming around floating debris – be it buoys, wood or sargasso. Sargasso is a unique floating seaweed that can contain a whole ecosystem. It provides a safe place for tiny critters to grow big enough to swim in the open ocean without getting eaten immediately. Mahi like to feed on the schools of fish that frequently hide among the sargasso.
